Everything You Need to Know Before Your Visit
Referrals & Appointments
A valid GP or specialist referral is required to see any of our specialists. Please ask your general practitioner or referring specialist to provide a referral letter addressed to your chosen specialist at Windsor Street Specialist Centre.
Once you have your referral, please call our reception on (02) 8608 1277 to arrange your appointment.
Referral Duration
- GP referrals to a specialist are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
- Specialist-to-specialist referrals are valid for 3 months.
- If your referral has expired, please return to your GP for a new referral before your appointment.
For Referring Doctors
We welcome referrals from general practitioners and other specialists. Please have your patient call us directly with their referral in hand.

Your First Visit
To help us provide the best possible care, please bring the following to your first appointment:
- Your valid GP or specialist referral letter
- Your Medicare card and any private health insurance cards
- A current list of all medications you are taking (including over-the-counter and supplements)
- Any relevant previous test results, imaging, or specialist letters
- Your regular GP's contact details
Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time to allow time for registration and paperwork.

Cancellations
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please call us as soon as possible so we can offer your appointment time to another patient. We appreciate as much notice as possible.
Fees & Billing
Windsor Street Specialist Centre is a private specialist practice. Consultation fees vary depending on the specialist and the nature of your consultation. Please contact our reception for information about fees prior to your appointment.
Medicare
Medicare rebates are available for most specialist consultations where a valid GP or specialist referral is held. The Medicare rebate will be applied to your consultation fee where applicable.
Private Health Insurance
If you hold private health insurance with hospital cover, this may assist with costs associated with procedures performed in a private hospital. Please check with your insurer regarding your level of cover.
Payment
Payment is required at the time of consultation. We accept EFTPOS, credit card, and cash.

Collection of Information
We collect personal and health information that is necessary for the provision of specialist medical care. This includes your name, contact details, date of birth, Medicare number, health insurance details, and clinical information relevant to your care.
Use and Disclosure
Your information is used to provide and coordinate your medical care. With your consent, we may share relevant information with your referring GP, other treating specialists, and healthcare providers involved in your care.
Access to Your Records
You have the right to access your personal health information held by this practice. Please contact our reception to request access to your records.

Do I need a referral to see a specialist at WSSC?
